介绍（英）	While very few metal spoons were unearthed during the Metropolitan Museum’s excavations at Nishapur in eastern Iran, three types are represented among the finds. This spoon is of a type characterized by a long handle and a small, relatively shallow bowl. Other shapes include spoons with flat handles and flat bowls, and one with a deeper, ladle-like bowl. The typology and function of tableware in the early Islamic world is still being worked out, and archaeological excavations in domestic contexts like those conducted at Nishapur are particularly important for increasing our understanding of the history of household utensils.
