介绍（英）	Müller was a leader of the Bristol School known for working in a free expressive manner that responded to John Sell Cotman. After making an extended tour to Greece and Egypt in 1838 and 1839, the artist returned to Britain via Italy. This fresh watercolor responds to the gardens of the either the Villa Borghese or Villa Chigi in Rome and the artist’s characteristic fascination with different types of trees is central to the image. Distinctive dry brushwork describes the foliage of Roman pines (a genus actually imported from Africa). Even though he had visited exotic locales, Müller’s first exhibited watercolor after reaching home was a view of Lake Albano, near Rome.
