介绍（英）	Richmond's career as a portraitist was launched in 1832 when he portrayed the famous abolitionist-politician William Wilberforce in watercolor, and the image engraved. A miniaturist's training underpins the confidently executed faces of these siblings, made five later, by which time the artist was earning a thousand pounds a year. Free graphite under-drawing shows through the color, and lively touches include the girl's red sash, boy's colorful handkerchief, and gold-tasselled cap. In October 1837, a few months after making this work, Richmond and his wife left London for a two-year stay in Italy.
