介绍（英）	Painted crosses such as this one could have been displayed on an altar or carried in processions, when both sides would have been visible. The inclusion of Saints Jerome, Francis, and Bernardino—the pre-eminent Franciscan preacher in the fifteenth century—suggests that it was painted for the Franciscan confraternity of San Girolamo in Siena. Orioli joined this confraternity in 1481 and held a number of administrative positions in it.
