介绍（英）	This Madonna and Child is from an important altarpiece painted for a church of the Silvestrine order (a branch of the Benedictines founded in 1231). The figures above are Christ flanked by Saints Paul and Peter. Segna’s figures are notable for their somewhat austere, regal bearing—so different from the delicately nuanced, affectively human world Duccio explored. He also retained the Byzantine web of gold striations on draperies to enhance their status as sacred icons.
