介绍（中）	画面中，施洗者圣约翰坐在荒野中，劝诫观众忏悔，右手指向天空，皮肤在沙漠中晒得黝黑。羔羊代表"上帝的羔羊"基督。作为巴洛克绘画的主角之一，普雷蒂曾在罗马、摩德纳和那不勒斯工作，后来搬到马耳他，在那里他被提升为爵士，并度过了他的职业生涯。圣约翰的表现力和大胆的雕塑构思将其与1651年至1652年在摩德纳s.Biagio教堂进行的Preti壁画联系在一起；有多梅尼奇诺和盖奇诺最有力的方式的回声。
介绍（英）	Saint John the Baptist is shown seated in the wilderness exhorting the viewer to repentance, his right hand pointing heavenwards, his skin tanned through years in the desert. The lamb stands for Christ, the "lamb of God." One of the protagonists of Baroque painting, Preti worked in Rome, Modena, and Naples before moving to Malta, where he was elevated to knighthood and spent the rest of his career. The expressive intensity and boldly sculptural conception of the Saint John link it with Preti's frescoes in the church of S. Biagio in Modena, carried out in 1651–52; there are echoes of the most vigorous manner of Domenichino and Guercino.
