介绍（英）	Painted toward the end of Tiepolo’s life, when he was in Madrid working for the king, this haunting picture shows the Holy Family and their donkey. They have just disembarked from a boat that ferried them across the Nile River (its imaginary topography is seemingly inspired as much by the Alps as by Egypt). A guardian angel prostrates himself, while the boatman clasps his hands in adoration. The painting, with its daring use of empty space and plunging diagonal composition, is one in a series. It is a finished canvas—not an oil sketch.
